Humanistic Primetime TV Writing Competition
(comedy and drama series)

Submission Period: October 1, 2009 thru January 31, 2010      


Rules: 
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
 
Accepted for Submission:
Please submit any 1/2 hour Primetime scripted comedy or drama series that aired original episodes during the 2009 television season on any network or cable (paid cable such as Showtime, HBO are accepted)

Submission Materials: Please submit your script (.pdf format) and Resume along with payment.  Format information can be found on the Submission Information page.

Not Accepted for Submission:
Pilots, treatments, outlines, teleplays, screenplays, short stories, novels, or other original materials are not accepted.

No previous paid writing experience is necessary to apply. However, we do require that the spec script sample be professional. You are ineligible for this Competition if you are staffed as a writer on a primetime cable or network series.

Writers may submit as many different specs as they would like, but each spec must be submitted with the submission fee per script. Each script must be in a separate email with the corresponding submission materials.

Writing Teams for a spec script may apply with the 1 per spec script submission fee.

Judging will be based upon Character, structure, ability to understand and write for the series (tone, character, structure, and innovative thinking).


Submission Period, Notifications:
Postmarked October 1, 2009 to midnight January 31, 2010. Finalists will be notified in early March of 2010 via email. Workshop and informational meetings will take place sometime in late March of 2010.

An interview may be requested of semi finalists before final selection of the Winner. Rx Laughter may ask the finalist(s) to provide an additional writing sample before determining the winner of the competition. However, this is NOT a requirement.

Submission Fee:
$28.00. There are no additional fees added on during payment. As this submission is completely online, there are also no postal mailing costs. As we are a 501c3 charity, the total submission fee is tax deductible
