Founder Bio


Sherry Hilber
Founder and CEO of Rx Laughter

Sherry Hilber is a former veteran prime time comedy network television executive in charge of creative and management needs for a number of shows such as Roseanne, Home Improvement, Becker and Cybill, and for several animated series for Walt Disney Television Animation such as Teacher's Pet (Nathan Lane). She is a Story Analyst for studio and network prestigious and selective writers workshops (Warner Bros, CBS, ABC and The Nicholl Fellowship),reading hundreds of spec scripts annually for inclusion into the top 1 percent of finalists. She is a private Story Consultant for Execurive Producers for pilots and series.

Ms Hilber created and runs a national nonprofit 501c3 charity that she founded in 1998 entitled "Rx Laughter" that explores the power of a sense of humor, with a focus on comedy tv and films as a mental and physical health resource for youth with depression, pain, anxiety and serious illness. Rx Laughter started at The UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center and as a research project and has expanded to other hospitals.and mental health clinics. The Rx Laughter esteemed Board consists of the families of classic comedians, (Chaplin, WC Fields, etc), scientists, and achieved entertainment industry professionals. The website is www.rxlaughter.org which she writes, edits and designs. She is currently writing a book based on her personal experiences of how humor and comedy helped her to fully recover from a series of personal tragedies.

Ms. Hilber is a born and raised native of New York City, a long time California resident of Los Angeles and most recently of the seaside village of Cambria on the central and southern Big Sur Coast of California.

Sherry has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from UCLA and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies from Los Angeles City College.
