Here is a brief overview of what we are working on for 2012:

1. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - Rx Laughter therapeutic & educational workshops:
One of our 2012 projects that we are very excited about uses improv role playing and comedy clips to help mothers who served in Iraq and who are trying to readjust to family life.

The workshops, a collaboration between trauma experts, improvisational performers and produced by Rx Laughter, will help mothers, children and families ease back into healthy relationships.

2. Some of our newer Therapeutic initiatives use technology and the web in new ways to help people who are dealing with serious physical and emotional issues that are affecting quality of life in significant ways.  While offering instant comic relief, these online clips of movies, television series and comedy performances have the longer term benefits of showing positive ways of coping with serious physical and emotional issues.

Adult topics thus far include relationship issues during illness, social anxiety, awaiting medical exam results, doctor-patient relationships, depression, hypochondria, aging, and much more. Children's topics include fear of going to the dentist or doctor, medical equipment, staying in a hospital, and other numerous relevant topics appropriate for their age. Clips of Animated movies and television series are especially helpful for young children.

3.  Our new Educational projects use digital media in new ways to help children cope with certain social issues such as bullying.  

4. Cognitive scientists are working with us on an innovative Research project that will see how certain types of entertainment can help diagnose and treat brain related issues.  This is an onsite lab and digital media project at a top tier research institute that is a leader in cognitive science.  The scientists and Rx Laughter are conducting a fundraising campaign to raise funds for the first year of this project to commence in 2012.

5.  The 3rd annual Rx Laughter Primetime Television Writing Competition will commence in 2012, with broader outreach to graduate students across the country.

7. Goodwill Ambassadors for Rx Laughter:  check back for more info.

8. Rx Laughter Welcome Gift Bags for children in Isolation (bone marrow treatments and other procedures that require difficult and lengthy hospital stays): Humorous items and medical toys to reduce anxiety and offer comfort and happiness. In discussions with media partners.
